ADVANCED
POSTURAL ANALYSIS**
This 3 hour lecture-demonstration workshop
will help participants develop a greater depth
of understanding of the information that can
be learned from postural analysis. We will
go beyond the basics and examine the interconnections
between regions of the body, and possible issues
associated with each sign noted in a Postual
Analysis. Specific Pilates exercises and programming
pertaining to the findings will be discussed
throughout the workshop. Participants must
have taken an essential level anatomy and postural
analysis prior to enrollment. Pilates experience
highly recommended.
advanced
cervical spine stabilization**
This practical workshop is designed
to give participants an in-depth understanding
of the bones, articulations, muscular forces
and biomechanics of the cervical spine. Participants
will develop the logic and problem solving
skills to effectively use props and modifications
for safely teaching clients with cervical spine
issues.
Participants will:
1. develop a thorough understanding of the
anatomy and biomechanics of the cervical spine;
2. develop a thorough understanding of normal
biomechanics and movements of the cervical
spine;
3. develop understanding of conditions of the
cervical spine, and how common pathologies
present in terms of symptoms and signs. Participants
will learn what symptoms indicate serious pathologies
which are not appropriate for Pilates;
4. develop problem solving skills for working
safely with clients with cervical spine problems;
5. learn progressions for developing dynamic
stability and strength for sport and daily
activities
**NOTE: The Advanced Postural
Analysis and Advanced Cervical Spine are worth
STOTT PILATES CECs;
however, you will receive a maximum of .2 CECs
whether you take just one or both workshops.
The
knee: stability and function
This lecture/demo will explore the anatomy
and biomechanics involved in the normal healthy
functioning of the knee, some of the interruptions
that can occur and exercise progressions to
restore function, prepare for specific activities
and enhance performance. First, the available
movements and functioning of the knee are explored,
and then common abnormal or dysfunctional movement
patterns are addressed. Finally, exercise progressions
that can be used to rebuild normal muscle action
and movement patterning are outlined as well
as knee joint exercise that can challenge and
promote optimal performance. LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
* Understand optimal function and movement
patterns of the knee joint. * Review anatomy
and muscular involvement. * Understand common
dysfunctions. * Learn exercises and progressions
to optimize knee joint function. (.2

The
lumbo-pelvic region: stability and function
This lecture explores the anatomy and biomechanics
involved in the normal healthy functioning of
the lumbo-pelvic region, some of the interruptions
that can occur to the ideal functioning of this
area and exercise progressions to restore function,
prepare for specific activities and enhance performance.
First, the available movements and functioning
of the lumbo-pelvic region are explored considering
the lumbar, the pelvis, the hip and surrounding
musculature. Common abnormal or dysfunctional
movement patterns and postures are addressed.
Finally, exercise progressions that can be used
to rebuild normal muscle action and movement
patterning are outlined, as well as exercises
that can challenge and promote optimal performance.
